| NORTH GAMBIER AMATEUR BOWERS SOCIETY Bike Winter, 3" CD-R |
| The follow-up to C Sharp Blues (see below). A 3" CD-R containing eight distant, haunting drone vignettes, purortedly constructed from the sound of an amplified bike spoke. Whether the North Gambier Amateur Bowers Society is actually a group or another of South Australian sound artist Cameron Wood's nom de plumes remains a mystery at this point, but ultimately it doesn't matter, as the beauty of these miniatures is such that it requires no explanation. |
| NORTH GAMBIER AMATEUR BOWERS SOCIETY C Sharp Blues Winter, CD-R |
| Debut release from South Australian 'ensemble'; a bow scrape odyssey of seasick violin drones and plucked melodies. Bandleader Cameron Wood describes C Sharp Blues as "somewhere between the blues drone of Jim O’Rourke’s Happy Days and Henry Flynt on horse tranquilizers." Who are we to argue with that? |
| NOVA SCOTIA Ramses II PseudoArcana, CD-R |
| Live improvisation from the young upstarts of the NZ drone and noise scene, hinged on an impossibly loud 78 recording of a freight train played on an ancient grammophone. |
| ONANI Dead Heat Independent, CD-R |
| More delinquent sonic tantrums from our favourite pair of westies. Features members (well, one member) of Circle Pit and Bed Wettin' Bad Boys. Probably the last copies of this anywhere. |
| ONANI Onani Independent, CD-R |
| First document of the now-classic "early years". Deep, rumbling drones and piercing, high-end scree from Sydney duo. Features members (well, one member) of Circle Pit and Bed Wettin' Bad Boys. Probably the last copies of this anywhere. |
| ORODRUIN Orodruin An Out Recordings, CD-R |
| Orodruin crawled from the fetid swamps of Van Diemen's Land in the grim depths of winter 2005 before making its way north to the decaying squalor of Sydney. This self-titled demo CD-R is the first audial evidence of its activities - a harrowing collection of subterranean scrapes and howls, tortured guitar and raging feedback. One-time pressing of 100 copies in elaborate hand-made covers. Now sold out at the source. |
| PEFKIN Zugunruhe sound&fury, CD-R |
| Having released music on such esteemed labels as Cook An Egg, PseudoArcana and Students of Decay, Gayle Brogan, aka Pefkin, now makes her way to sound&fury with Zugunruhe, a beautiful voyage into lush free-folk and abstract clatter. |
| PIPELINE ALPHA Darking Lights of Mazil DNT, CS |
| This sold out at the source with days. We secured a small handful of copies, though, so your days of lamenting the loss can now come to an end. Pipeline Alpha is the nom de plume of German artist Marcel Seeck, who has released stuff on the Ruralfaune label as well as on his own imprint Amid the Waves. This cassette - released in an ultra-limited edition of just 55 copies - is described by the label as "boggy whisperings like an unfurled book of spells embeds you." Indeed. Neat spraypained covers, too. |
| PRESLEY Presley EP Independent, CD |
| Six-track debut from Texan indie kids. They seem to have split up now, but man they were good. For fans of Sunny Day Real Estate, Built to Spill, etc. |
